Atlantic City, NJ (May 23, 2022) – As Memorial Day approaches, Atlantic City is preparing to mark 45 years since the first casino hotel outside of Nevada opened in the resort destination. This Memorial Day weekend, and all summer long, guests can enjoy all that Atlantic City has to offer with world-class entertainment, beaches, food and shopping.

“Atlantic City has been providing an outstanding gaming experience for 45 years,” said Mark Giannantonio, president of the Casino Association of New Jersey. “As travelers make plans this summer, Atlantic City is an attractive and cost-effective destination for one-third of the U.S. population who can access the city by car. This summer is a perfect opportunity for previous and new visitors to visit Atlantic City and see first-hand all that this historic beach town has to offer.”

Atlantic City continues to diversify its offerings. Another milestone in Stockton University‘s expansion in Atlantic City took place earlier this month with the official opening of a new student residence hall in the city’s University District. In addition, AtlantiCare opened a new $38.3 million Medical Arts Pavilion this past November, which was specifically developed to enhance access to quality care for the Atlantic City community. The Island Water Park at Showboat Atlantic City Hotel is also the newest attraction in Atlantic City that is set to open this summer. The property will be 100,000 square-feet and was developed through a $100 million investment by Showboat Hotel. The local community continues to attract new investments such as the recently opened Cardinal, a contemporary American restaurant with globally influenced cuisine. Good Dog Bar Atlantic City, which opened this week, will include good food, drinks and a second-floor game room.

“Summer in Atlantic City offers the best the Jersey Shore has to offer for travelers looking to have some fun in the sun,” said Larry Sieg, President & CEO of Visit Atlantic City. “The city has been busy over the last several months, and visitors this summer are in for a treat. Opening this summer is Spiegelworld’s ‘The Hook’ and the largest indoor waterpark on the East Coast, Island Waterpark at Showboat, and much more.”

Visit Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Sports Commission have already had a strong start to the year with events, conventions and conferences that resulted in a total economic impact of over $62 million. Upcoming citywide summer events include:

  • National Governors Association (NGA) Annual Meeting in Atlantic City: NGA will welcome Governors, First Spouses and their staff members to Atlantic City for the NGA Annual Meeting.
  • Atlantic City Beer & Music Festival: From June 3 to 4 at Bader Field, visitors will enjoy over 120 breweries and brew masters with exciting live music from bands like the Dropkick Murphys and 311. For more information, visit: https://www.acbeerfest.com/.
  • 37th Annual Police Security Expo: The Annual Police Security Expo will take place at the Atlantic City Convention Center on June 27 and 28 with an expected turnout of 7,900 attendees.
  • Jimmy Johnson’s Atlantic City “Quest for the Ring” Championship Fishing Week: NFL Coach Johnson has teamed up with the Atlantic City Sports Commission to add on to the series and bring this high stakes and overly entertaining competitive sportfishing experience to Atlantic City July 16-23, hosted at the Frank S. Farley State Marina at the Golden Nugget.
  • Santa Hustle: On Sunday, July 23, the FIRST EVER Santa Hustle® Christmas in July Atlantic City 5k, 9k, 12k, and Kids Dash will take place at Brighton Park.
  • TidalWave Music Festival: TidalWave Music Festival returns this summer with country superstars Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn and Thomas Rhett serving as headliners. The event will take place in Atlantic Beach City in New Jersey from Friday, August 11 to Sunday, August 13.
  • Visit Atlantic City Airshow – Thunder Over the Boardwalk 2023: The annual, must-see attraction will return this August and is expected to draw the attention of thousands of military and aviation lovers from all over the world to Atlantic City.
