25th Annual Atlantic City Host Awards
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – (January 18, 2024) – Nominations for the 25th Annual Atlantic City Host Awards are being accepted through Friday, March 15. The Atlantic City Host Awards honor employees in the tourism and hospitality industry who go above and beyond expectations to enrich the experience of Atlantic City visitors.
Management personnel may nominate any non-managerial employee from their hotel, restaurant, retail, tourism, or hospitality-related field, as well as the public sector, in 27 categories.
Nomination forms, as well as a detailed description of each category, can be found at https://njcrda.com/crda-foundation/host-awards/categories/. To access the forms, please click on the “Host Award” icon on the right side of the screen and then “Forms”. Nominations may be mailed or delivered to the CRDA at 2301 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, NJ 08401. Alternatively, nomination forms may be emailed to Doreen Prinzo at [email protected]. All nominations must be received no later than March 15. The Host Awards Selection Committee, which is comprised of hospitality and business professionals, will review all submissions in confidence, and up to five (5) finalists will be chosen in each category.
This year’s Annual Host Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. All finalists receive two complimentary tickets to the event while family, friends and co-workers are invited to purchase additional tickets to attend the event and support their nominee. Tickets are priced at $75 for an individual, and tables of ten are priced at $750.
Nominations are being accepted in the following categories: Best Server, Fine Dining; Best Server, Casual Dining; Best Server, Banquet/Catering; Best Food and Beverage Support; Best Bartender; Best Host/Hostess; Best Visitor Information/Concierge/Service Personnel (Thomas G. Henning Award); Best Retail Sales Associate; Best Valet; Best Door/Bell Person; Best Room Service Personnel; Best Casino Host; Best Room Attendant/Housekeeper; Best Food Production Personnel; Best Heart/Back of the House Personnel; Best Reservationist; Best Security Personnel; Best Table Games Personnel (Ray Kot Award); Best Slot Personnel; Best Casino Support Personnel; Best Public Area Personnel; Best Cashier; Best Cocktail Server; Best Spa Personnel; Best Facilities Operations; Best Sports Book/I-Gaming Personnel; Best Entertainment Support.
As part of the Host Awards ceremony, the “Spirit of Hospitality” Award is given to an outstanding individual who has made a long-lasting contribution to the Atlantic City tourism & hospitality industry. The committee is honored to award this year’s Spirit of Hospitality Award to Scott Cronick. Scott has many years in the Atlantic City hospitality industry, writing for the Press of Atlantic City, then becoming editor of the At The Shore and Atlantic City Weekly. Scott believes in Atlantic City and has invested in Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall at the Orange Loop. He has also created events to boost tourism, Burger Fest, Wing Wars and several music and marketplaces at the Orange Loop. Scott is also a radio personality on WOND talking about new projects, interviewing restaurant and event owners and keeping everyone up-to-date on Atlantic City news.
Past recipients of the Spirit of Hospitality Award include Henrietta Shelton, Chicken Bone Beach Historical Foundation (2006); Nelson Johnson, Boardwalk Empire author (2011); Jean Muchanic, Executive Director of the Absecon Lighthouse (2015); Jon Henderson, Good Time Tricycle Productions (2018); Whitney Ullman, The Pulse (2019); and Evan Sanchez, Authentic City Partners (2022).
