Regularly scheduled weekly tours of historic St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church will be offered to all visitors of the community starting at 11:15 am on Sunday, September 10th. St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church is one of 3 historical Churches of the Parish of Saint Monica, which serves all Atlantic City. It includes the churches of Our Lady Star of the Sea, St. Nicholas of Tolentine, and St. Michael…all 100+ years old.
Visitors who take the 30-minute tour will learn of the unique historical, artistic, and theological significance of St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in February 2001. Guests should be prepared to be awed and inspired as they are greeted by five altars, the magnificent sanctuary, 18 breathtaking murals, 52 symbols associated with the passion and death of Christ, the 142 stained-glass windows (handcrafted in Germany and Philadelphia), the beautiful pipe organ and so much more!
30-minute tours are scheduled for every Sunday starting at 11:15am prior to the Noon Mass and will be led by Jim Dessicino, the Lead Tour Guide. Visitors taking the tour will be encouraged to stay after the conclusion of the tour to celebrate the Sunday liturgy with our faith community.
There is no cost for the tours, but it is asked to consider making a $20.00 donation to support further restoration of the Church.
