Songs of Freedom: Poetry Celebrating Juneteenth

June 19 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm | Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University, Atlantic City

In celebration of freedom and in recognition of the perseverance and spirit of Black people in America, Murphy Writing of Stockton University is hosting a special edition of World Above, the monthly open mic and featured reading series at the Noyes Arts Garage, on Wednesday, June 16, 2024, 7-9pm EST. Though the reading is in-person, a Zoom livestream will be offered. Local poets, including Belinda Manning, Raymond Tyler, Elle Vintage, and Lennox Warner, will share poems that explore themes of cultural identity and inherited histories. Open mic participants are invited to read one poem or prose piece that is less than two minutes long and should arrive by 6:45pm to secure a spot. Please contact Emari DiGiorgio ([email protected]) with questions or comments.
