This club meets throughout the summer of 2024 at the Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University on summer Fridays to work on a collaborative woodcut project. The finished block will be printed with a lawn roller and teamwork upon completion!
This is the second year that we are organizing this community-based collaborative project. See photos from last year to understand the process HERE
This club invites those curious about printmaking and experienced printmakers alike to work towards our summer goal: to produce beautiful, large-scale woodblock prints. We will be developing a single-color image, transferring the image to the block, and carving the block throughout the summer.
Ten sets of carving tools will be available for use during the club, first-come, first-served. Otherwise, participants or experienced printmakers are welcome to bring their own favorite woodcut tools.
We will be focusing on the use of line to create dimension and interest for these single-color relief prints. Upon completion of this project, we will all come together for a Big Prints celebration where summerlong participants will be able to print their own large print. Blank t-shirts and greeting cards will also be sold in our gift shop for those interested in printing smaller portions of the woodblock.
