CRDA Offers Free Parking at Wave Garage For Atlantic City Residents and Visitors

At the request of the City of Atlantic City’s Office of Emergency Management, the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) has authorized the Wave Parking Garage, located at the corner of Mississippi and Fairmount Avenues, to provide free parking for all Atlantic City residents and visitors from 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 21 through 10:00 AM, Friday, August 22, 2024 due to anticipated flooding.

Parking will only be permitted on the 2nd floor of the garage during this time. Parking garage personnel will be on duty and parking will be validated at the exit gate upon departure.

IMMEDIATE ACTIONS:

  • Move vehicles from flood-prone areas to higher ground by 5:00 PM Thursday, August 21
  • Free parking available at Wave Parking Garage (Mississippi & Fairmount) from 10:00 AM Thursday through 10:00 AM Friday
  • Secure all outdoor items that could become projectiles

EXPECTED IMPACTS:

  • Major coastal flooding, strong winds, severe beach erosion
  • Route 30 and Route 40 closures/lane reductions due to flooding, especially during Thursday evening high tide
  • Hazardous surf conditions with beach bathing restricted through Thursday, reassessed Friday

SAFETY REMINDERS:

  • Never drive through flooded streets – turn around, use alternate routes
  • Never drive around police barricades
  • Swimming only during lifeguard hours (10:00 AM – 6:00 PM) when restrictions lifted
  • Follow all lifeguard instructions and warning flags

CITY PREPAREDNESS:

  • Police high-water vehicles ready for flooded areas
  • Beach trash cans and street debris removed to prevent drainage blockages
