TRAVEL UPDATE – PACIFIC AVENUE PAVING
EFFECTIVE JULY 21, 2014
(Atlantic City, NJ, July 18, 2014) – As work continues on preparing the infrastructure for the Pacific Avenue milling and resurfacing project, drivers can expect new traffic patterns in the following locations starting next week:
- Georgia Avenue to Florida Avenue
- Maryland Avenue to Virginia Avenue
At any given time, drivers in each area will encounter only a two block section with a reduced traffic flow of one lane in each direction. Jitneys will not be able to stop in the construction areas; riders will need to use the block before or after the construction areas.
At no time will traffic be detoured from Pacific Avenue for this work; however, other contractors working in the area ahead of the paving may create occasional, short-term detours.
This current phase of work consists of construction of ADA-compliant pedestrian crossings at the curb, as well as installation of new street lights between Missouri and Texas Avenues. Milling and repaving of Pacific Avenue will be completed in late fall 2014.
Traffic update press releases will be issued periodically to alert drivers and jitney customers as to which blocks will be under construction. Updates will also be posted at www.njcrda.com.
