ATLANTIC CITY’S FAMOUS WOODEN THOROUGHFARE NAMED
“BEST BEACH BOARDWALK” BY THE TRAVEL CHANNEL
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – (Friday, February 28, 2014) – Atlantic City has been bestowed with another prestigious honor as The Travel Channel’s Annual Best Beach Awards of 2014 has crowned the city as having the “Best Beach Boardwalk” in the world.
The Travel Channel’s Senior Interactive Producer Sara Gilliam had this to say regarding Atlantic City’s historic wooden thoroughfare: “Still standing after Superstorm Sandy, there’s never been a better time to visit the Atlantic City Boardwalk, America’s first boardwalk and the home of Miss America. For a mix of old and new, take a ride in an iconic rolling chair while snacking on salt water taffy and people watching, indulge in some high-end shopping at Louis Vuitton or Gucci at The Pier Shops at Caesars, and splurge on a night out at one of the city’s spectacular casinos or see some of the world’s top entertainers perform at Boardwalk Hall. Plus, families with kids of all ages will find endless amusement at the Steel Pier across from Trump Taj Mahal.”
The Atlantic City Boardwalk features four miles of sun and fun just steps away from free, clean sandy beaches. Thanks to an expanded Ambassador program, visitors to the city will be treated to a safe, informative and pleasurable experience. Visitors will also find an eclectic mix of amenities and activities along the Boardwalk from bicycle rentals, free volleyball courts and miniature golf to world-class casino hotels, dining, shopping and entertainment. More than 50 convenient and handicapped-accessible walkways and ramps lead to the beach where several beach bars, such as the new Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and LandShark Bar & Grill, are a popular summertime hang out. On a nightly basis, free 3D light and sound shows defy one’s imagination on the façade of Historic Boardwalk Hall while many styles of live entertainment may be enjoyed at several public venues up and down the Boardwalk.
The Annual poll selected nine other locations throughout the world in various categories, including: Best Exotic Beach: Tavarua, Fiji; Sexiest Beach: White Bay, Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands; Best Family Beach: Clearwater Beach, Florida; Best Party Beach: Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Best Romantic Beach: The Maldives; Best Beach for Adventure: Leo Carrillo State Beach, Malibu, California; Best Beach Bars: Rick’s Café, Negril, Jamaica; Best Unusual Beach: Vik, Iceland; and Best Beach You Haven’t Heard of…Yet: Don Pedro Island State Park, Florida.
