Preparations Are Underway For The 2015 Atlantic City Airshow – Thunder Over the Boardwalk

– GEICO announced as presenting sponsor

– U.S. Navy Blue Angels headline along with International Breitling Jet Team

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (March 16, 2015) – Now celebrating it’s 13th year, the 2015 Atlantic City Airshow will return to the skies above the beautiful free beaches and Boardwalk of Atlantic City on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. GEICO will be the presenting sponsor of this year’s event, as announced by Greater Atlantic City Chamber President Joseph Kelly, the show’s organizer.

“We have had a great working relationship and history with GEICO as performers in past shows,” said Greater Atlantic City Chamber President Joseph Kelly. “We now look forward to the benefits that their presenting sponsorship brings to the event,” he added.

“Thunder over the Boardwalk is a great event and Atlantic City offers the perfect setting for an airshow,” said Ted Ward, GEICO vice president. “We are pleased to serve as the presenting sponsor, which gives us ample opportunities to connect with the fans as they enjoy an impressive display of airmanship.”

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will return to the airshow for the first time since 2006. During their aerobatic demonstration, the Blues fly six F/A-18 Hornet aircraft, split into the Diamond Formation (Blue Angels 1 through 4) and the Lead and Opposing Solos (Blue Angels 5 and 6). Also recently announced is the addition of the international “Breitling Jet Team” from France. The Breitling Team is the world’s largest professional civilian flight team performing on jets.  The Atlantic City Airshow is one of only a dozen appearances being made by the Breitling Jet Team in the U.S. this year.

“The Atlantic City Airshow continues to be one of Atlantic City’s biggest summer tourist events,” said CRDA Executive Director, John Palmieri. “The ability to offer this high performance free airshow complements our other tourism activities to make for a well-rounded destination that visitors are able to plan their vacations around,” he added.

Also confirmed for the September 2, 2015 show are U. S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team and the GEICO Skytypers.

Visitors will also want to check out the free practice day on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, traditionally a popular event in itself, when a shortened flight schedule primes smaller audiences before the big day. The annual Atlantic City Salutes the Armed Forces Parade will kick off the fun-filled week on Monday August 31, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

The Atlantic City Airshow is a community partnership between the Greater Atlantic City Chamber; the City of Atlantic City; the 177th Fighter Wing of the N.J. Air National Guard; South Jersey Transportation Authority; FAA William J. Hughes Tech Center; The Atlantic City International Airport; David Schultz Airshows, LLC; the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and many others.

The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is this year’s host hotel, while the Atlantic CityInternationalAirport (ACY) is the host airport for the Atlantic City Airshow. The majority of Atlantic City Airshow performers take off and land via ACY, although the airshow takes place over the beach and Boardwalk in Atlantic City.

Sponsorship packages are available for the 2015 Atlantic City Airshow. Those interested in becoming a sponsor should contact Greater Atlantic City Chamber Director of Member Events Elisa Monroe at

609-345-4524, ext. 102.
