Line-Up Announced For The 2016 Atlantic City Airshow – Thunder Over the Boardwalk
– GEICO returns as presenting sponsor
– U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds return to headline show
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (June 30, 2016) – Now celebrating it’s 14th year, the 2016 Atlantic City Airshow will return to the skies above the beautiful free beaches and Boardwalk of Atlantic City on Wednesday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. GEICO will be the presenting sponsor of this year’s event, as announced by Greater Atlantic City Chamber President Joe Kelly, the show’s organizer.
“We are excited to welcome back GEICO as a presenting sponsor this year and have enjoyed a great working relationship and history with GEICO as performers in past shows,” said Kelly. We expect another first-class airshow this summer,” he added.
The 2016 Atlantic City Airshow also welcomes back the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds who last performed in the 2014 Atlantic City Airshow. Also confirmed are the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, the US Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet East Coast Demonstration Team, the US Coast Guard, and the GEICO Skytypers. The Atlantic City Airshow is pleased to feature a demonstration from the USMC MV-22 Osprey – one of only four Osprey demonstrations for 2016. All five branches of the US Armed Services are participating this year!
“The Atlantic City Airshow continues to be one of the biggest summer events that draws visitors to Atlantic City,” said CRDA Executive Director, John Palmieri. “Together with the recently announced beach concerts by Live Nation, Atlantic City is on target to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors this summer,” he added.
Visitors will want to check out the free practice day on Tuesday, August 16, a popular event in itself, when a shortened flight schedule gives a sneak peek of what to expect for the big day. The annual Atlantic City Salutes the Armed Forces Parade will kick off the fun-filled week on Monday August 15, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
The Atlantic City Airshow is a community partnership between the Greater Atlantic City Chamber; the City of Atlantic City; the 177th Fighter Wing of the N.J. Air National Guard; South Jersey Transportation Authority; FAA William J. Hughes Tech Center; The Atlantic City International Airport; David Schultz Airshows, LLC; the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and many others.
The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is this year’s host hotel, while the Atlantic City International Airport (ACY) is the host airport for the Atlantic City Airshow. The majority of Atlantic City Airshow performers take off and land via ACY, although the airshow takes place over the beach and Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
