CRDA Board Approves Enhancements to Atlantic City Convention Center and Historic Boardwalk Hall
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – (Thursday, July 21, 2016) – The Board of the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) at its Tuesday meeting approved new technology enhancements to the exterior of the Atlantic City Convention Center and Historic Boardwalk Hall.
The Board approved an agreement with Eastern Sign Tech, LLC in amount not to exceed $918,114 that will install a replacement RGB (red, green and blue) board at the Convention Center and a new two-sided V board on the Boardwalk façade of Boardwalk Hall’s West Hall.
The 54’x15’ RGB board at the Convention Center will feature LED lighting and will replace the original tri-vision display board and “Atlantic City” letter set above it. The 19’x11’ two-sided V board at West Hall will also feature LED lighting and will be visible to foot traffic heading east and west on the Boardwalk.
“Giving Atlantic City better visibility and keeping our guests and residents informed is critical towards drawing additional visitors to the Tourism District,” said CRDA Executive Director John Palmieri, who continued “and these new video board displays will allow us to promote upcoming events and attractions throughout the city in vibrant LED quality.”
Once structural steel reinforcement work is completed at both properties, the installation of the two video boards should be completed within two to three months.
The CRDA Board also approved an agreement between Spectra Venue Management, which oversees the Convention Center and Boardwalk Hall, and Applewood Enterprises, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $398,340 towards the installation of an epoxy floor application throughout Boardwalk Hall’s arena bowl area.
“Thanks to the CRDA, this project will further help our management team maintain and preserve this historic facility and offer over 300,000 annual patrons a more appealing experience when attending events at Boardwalk Hall,” said Spectra Venue Management General Manager Fran Rodowicz.
Board actions will take effect following the expiration of the Governor’s statutory review period.
