TURKEY DONATIONS AND VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED FOR THE ATLANTIC CITY RESCUE MISSION

Spectra by Comcast Spectacor, which provides Venue Management and Food Services & Hospitality to Boardwalk Hall and the Atlantic City Convention Center, is once again giving back to the local community this Thanksgiving holiday. Executive Chef George Fisher and his staff will prepare Thanksgiving dinner to serve nearly 1,000 homeless at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission.
Food prep starts Monday, November 23 and runs through Wednesday, November 25 in the kitchens of the Atlantic City Convention Center. The meal will be served Thursday from 12 noon and continue through 6 p.m. at the Rescue Mission. Led by Chef George, additional volunteers range from chefs from the local casinos and members of the professional Chefs Association of South Jersey. The food has been donated by local casinos, food vendors, and Spectra Food Services & Hospitality.
Due to a turkey flu epidemic, donations have been sparse this year. A Facebook page “AC Chefs on a Mission” has been created to help promote this event and to create awareness for donations and volunteers. Contributions can be made to the Atlantic City Rescue online at www.ACRescueMission.org and food donations can be made to the Mission at 2009 Bacharach Blvd. in Atlantic City.
“This is my second year involved with the Atlantic City Rescue Mission,” said Spectra’s George Fisher, Executive Chef of the Atlantic City Convention Center and Boardwalk Hall. “We still need turkey donations and volunteers as the Mission and I have yet to receive any; we will feed 700-1,000 people one way or another. The menu will consist of oven roasted turkey with giblet gravy, Virginia baked ham, candied sweet potatoes, whipped mashed potatoes, shoepeg corn, fresh made cranberry relish, and dessert rolls and butter.”
“Thanksgiving is approaching fast and the Atlantic City Rescue Mission needs help to serve meals this season; support is crucial now and throughout the year,” said AC Rescue Mission’s Holly Jennings, Administrative Assistant. “A special thank you to the Convention Centers involvement with the Mission for Thanksgiving and food donations throughout the year.”
